The 65th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference – Youth Advocacy Training Program Pre-Workshop
The Movement of An Era of Conscience is the Fundamental Solution to Sustainable Development
(Reporter Richard Tsai, New York)
On August 26, 2014, the Youth Advocacy Training Program workshop, one of the workshops of The 65th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference, was hosted at the headquarters of United Nations in New York. More than 40 exuberant youth volunteers and leaders participated in the workshop to engage in meaningful discussions about ways to contribute to the sustainable development of the world.
These youth volunteers and leaders enthusiastically contributed valuable ideas toward the topics that were discussed in the workshops, revealing their spirit and energy in these young people toward the welfare of the world. The youth volunteers of Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL) introduced the movement An Era of Conscience as one of the ways to contribute to the sustainable development. By reviewing one’s heart and doing good deeds, everyone can play one’s role well, which can make this world better.
This movement was immediately accepted by a lot of young leaders and volunteers in the workshop. In the closing of the meeting, these youths also responded to An Era of Conscience movement by performing the Conscience hand gesture as a symbol of protecting the conscience in our heart and creating an era of love and peace.
This year’s conference strongly emphasizes youth’s engagement in the development of the world from 2015 and onward. Youths hold the future of the world, thus it is vital to congregate young volunteers and leaders across the globe to discuss ways to shape their future effectively.
The 65th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference is held by the United Nation Department of Public Information and the NGO/DPI Executive Committee to gather activists and organizations to discover ways to influence the world leaders to tackle the world’s unfinished issues of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The goals are to address some of the most prominent problems plaguing the world by 2015. As of 2014, the attempt to tackle hunger in the world has been most successful. However, many goals still fall short of what the United Nations is expecting to achieve.
The youth volunteers of An Era of Conscience movement believe that addressing the pressing problems of the world should be from the foundation – the heart of people. Only when every world citizen do their jobs with good conscience will the problems of the world be solved and a sustainable future be achieved.
