The essence of Chinese culture displayed at the Chinese New Year Gathering at Tai Ji Men, which is an ancient menpai (similar to school) of culture, qigong, martial arts, and self-improvement, has touched the hearts of many foreigners and won their recognition. This year, Tai Ji Men especially held the Chinese New Year Gathering at Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei (Shangri-La Ballroom, 2 F) on Feb. 16, 2017 (Thurs.) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The event was attended by distinguished members of the diplomatic corps from nearly 30 nations, including Juan Manuel Gonzalez Bustos, Head of Mexican Trade Services Documentation and Cultural Office, Hungary, Malaysia,Papua New Guinea,Philippines, Malaysia, Ms. Sara Scarbro (representing AIT), Brazil, Italy, Thailand,etc. The guests will be warmly welcomed by "Tai Ji Men’s Auspicious Lion," happy kids, and elegant young ladies doing the Feather Fan Dance, once only accessible to the royals of the Chinese imperial court. Each guest can happily interact with the auspicious lion and draw one of the scrolls containing words of wisdom and messages of good luck and also do the horse stance to enjoy “gongfu tea.” Additionally, Tai Ji Men will also provide very exciting cultural performances. The whole celebration promises to bring boundless happy energy to all participants. Tai Ji Men earned recognition of "The World's Happiest and Most Peaceful Place," and its martial arts performances were praised as "artistically exquisite and profoundly peaceful." This rich and exquisite cultural feast fit for the royals will encompass beautiful music, graceful dances, powerful martial arts performance, singing in an ancient style, traditional Chinese plays, children’s angelic singing, and energetic dance by the youth at Tai Ji Men. Their songs will express people’s aspiration for a conscience-driven world. The participants will feel as if they were embarking on a peaceful journey around the globe.
The event will be kicked off by a series of upbeat music ranging from Western opera songs to Taiwanese folk songs. The inspirational music will lift the participants’ spirits up and cleanse their hearts. Through the music, Tai Ji Men wishes all to have a good start, which is crucial to later success, and be cheerful every day in the new year. 2017 is the Year of the Rooster. The peacock, which ingests all kinds of poisons and emits fragrance, is considered the king of birds in Chinese culture. Peacocks are popular as a peacock fanning its tail symbolizes prosperity and good fortune. At the beginning of the Year of the Rooster, Tai Ji Men especially delivers a presentation called "Peacocks Spreading Their Tails to Welcome the New Year" to wish everyone peace, joy, prosperity, and all the best. Blue peacocks are said to bring a promising future and hope while white peacocks represent purity and kindness. Tai Ji Men’s martial arts formation embodies the spirit of righteousness, bravery, and kindness. Tai Ji Men’s knights-errant will display powerful moves that come from their tender hearts and demonstrate unity and a formation passed down since ancient times. February 16, 2017 will mark the third anniversary of the global launch of the movement of An Era of Conscience (ANEOC). Innocent children and
vigorous youth will present heavenly music including “Calling of Conscience,” “Song of Hope,” and “Happiness Is Everywhere.” The program will conclude with a choral performance titled “An Era of Conscience.” These songs are to awaken people's conscience and kindness and remind them to maintain pure hearts. To date, 196 nations have participated in the movement of An Era of Conscience, and over 250,000 people in 150 countries have endorsed the Declaration for the Movement of An Era of Conscience. The ANEOC website has received over 3 million visits and contains the kind words and good deeds of conscientious people from all walks of life and the reports of their promotion of ANEOC. The website has become a treasure trove for the promotion of conscience-driven education and has started a powerful force of energy for positive change across the Earth.
The performers include lively children and energetic young adults, who have followed their shifu (master) Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze to conduct cultural exchange to foster peace and goodwill. Having been practicing qigong and cultivating their hearts at Tai Ji Men for years, they naturally radiate happiness and positive energy. Among them, 8-year-old Yu-Hsin Pu, a third grader, is the youngest. She is the granddaughter of a famous artist Hao-Ming Pu. Her parents and grandfather have brought her to Tai Ji Men when she was only two. Practicing qigong at Tai Ji Men, she has learned to be brave and eager to help others. She is popular at school and has been chosen as the leader of her class every year since first grade. She will perform with other children the songs “Calling of Conscience” and “Song of Hope.” She said that she is very happy to do a good deed by participating in the performance and sending her smiles to all participants.
